Parts of Speech

বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত শব্দ গুলোকে এদের কার্যানুসারে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন শ্রেণীতে ভাগ করা যায়, এদের প্রত্যেকটিকে এক একটি Parts of Speech বলা হয়।

Parts of Speech আট প্রকার। যথা:- 

1. Noun

2. Pronoun

3. Adjective

4. Verb

5. Adverb

6. Preposition

7. Conjunction

8. Interjection

Noun:- কোন কিছুর নামকেই Noun বলে। যেমন:-

Sharif is a boy

The cat is an animal

Pronoun:- যে শব্দ Noun এর পরিবর্তে বসে তাহাকে Pronoun বলে। যেমন:-

Rifat is my friend. He is a good boy.

The boy is my friend who came here.

Adjective:- যে শব্দ Noun বা Pronoun এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে তাহাকে Adjective বলে। যেমন:-

Jabed is a good boy

Sixty taka is a large amount.

Verb:- যে শব্দ দ্বারা কোন কাজ করা বুঝায় অর্থাৎ যা দ্বারা হওয়া, থাকা, করা ইত্যাদি বুঝায়, তাকে Verb বলে। যেমন:-

We see the moon.

The girl eats rice. 

Adverb:- যে শব্দ বা Word কোন Adjective, verb বা অন্য কোন Adverb কে বিশেষিত করে, তাকে Adverb বলে। যেমন:-

Mr. Hasan is a well-known teacher.

She speaks slowly.

Preposition:- যে শব্দ বা Word কোন noun বা pronoun এর পূর্বে বসে সেই noun বা pronoun এর সাথে অন্য আরেকটি noun বা word এর সম্বন্ধ প্রকাশ করে তাকে Preposition বলা হয়। যেমন:-

He puts the book on the table.

Look at the sky.

Conjunction:- যে Word কোন দুটি Word বা Sentence কে যুক্ত করে তাকে, Conjunction বলে। যেমন:-

He is poor but honest.

Rifat and Imtiaz are brothers.

Interjection:- যে Word বা শব্দ মনের আকস্মিক অনুভূতি বা ভাব প্রকাশ করে তাকে Interjection বলা হয়। যেমন:-

Alas! he has lost his mother. 

Hurrah! we have won the game.
